Hey All. I'm very happy that people are starting to appreciate my work on this platform again, and I was thinking that I'd love to see you guys on some other sites as well. With a lot of skepticism over Tumblr as of late, I thought it'd be worthwhile to list a few of my other sites where you guys could find me. Not that I'm getting rid of my tumblr just yet (alexneish.tumblr.com) but I'll be likely to post more of my concept work over on these other sites, while I'll have more of my finished works posted here.

Anyway, here's the links to my other sites:

Also a few links for those who would be awesome enough to donate to me:

Thanks again, guys. Really looking forward to seeing more of you.  :)

Hey, All. So as a creative project I’m working on a rough game concept with mechanics similar to Paper Mario and Child of Light, but with a narrative heavily inspired by Nier and Drakengard (...and Demon’s Souls ...)

Ideally I’d be going for a open world 2D side scroller (or top down) with a mixture of RTS and TBS elements in combat. But what I’m thinking about is How I want the payer to explore the world: either alone or with companions. So here’s some of the systems that I’m thinking of:

-Single player with no companions, exploring the vast and crushing world with only a few friendly faces along the way, but all on your own. This would eliminate the turn base and open it up to more of an RTS platformig system.

-Single player with AI companions that can be ordered to attack certain enemies, but don’t get damaged by your attacks. Also able to keep with the RTS elements while still having company that can be used as an exploration and combat mechanic for interacting with the game world.

Lastly this is the option I’ve been putting the most thought in to, which does use some TBS elements in combat , but with a real time turn system:

In the tutorial level of the game, there would be an option of either going through the game single player or multiplayer. For this version, any Party members you choose (if you want any) are permanent and remain with you throughout the game. You’d have the option to choose from nine, but can only take up to three with you.

Additionally, You have three potential keys to free party members, but those keys can also be used to unlock rooms in the tutorial that will grant you up to three items for extra power to level you significantly in the early parts of the game. However, if you do decide you’d like some company but would also want extra power for yourself, you’re not limited to an either or; you could take on a party member or two and still acquire one or two of the power boosts.

Anyway, from a development standpoint, which do you guys think would be the most interesting to see or experience? Any input you’d have on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hey, Guys. For a study, I’m curious as to what type of fantasy race the general public would go for if they had the option to do so in a fantasy setting (for a potential game). The races, and brief character traits, that I have in mind are as follows:

Human: generous and righteous, but can be opinionated and ignorant of others at times

Elf: compassionate and loyal, but can be slightly conservative and self-involved

Orc: free-spirited and very protective, but can be assertive and easy to insult, even by mistake

Dwarf: high-spirited and committed, but can be reserved and unwilling to talk about themselves

Mer-person: exotic and trustworthy, but can be quick to judge and headstrong

Gnome: blissful and sincere, but can be spontaneous and hard to get to know

Other: for your own reasons

So whichever of these traits most appeal to you, let me know in the comments below and tell me why. Thanks ;)

(p.s. thinking of making this a game where you can choose up to 3 members for your team; just getting a general idea of what would be the first choice for people)

Hey, y’all. I know it’s been a while since I posted a significant journal entry, so I figured I’d start things off with another concept I’m currently working on, this time for a fantasy story (working title Psalm of Pendansia). While I have a very strong idea on where I want to take the narrative, lately I have been questioning the era in which I want to set the story. Currently, I’m tied between two options, and I’d really appreciate any input you guys have to give me.

Here’s a few facts on the story to help with my decision:

This is a story that’s going to heavily involve humans being rallied into seeing elvenkind as a blight upon the world, as well as many other races in the world. They are organized into demolishing the great elven kingdoms and all other races are free to either join them or be taken down with the elves.

The major powers within this fantasy story are the humans and the elves, with dwarves playing the part of a more subservient race after nearly being wiped out in the Great Inner War that brought centuries of peace between the races. Orcs are a very simple-living, burly race but not evil in the least for this story, while goblins are a more crafty race who work primarily in harnessing mana as a renewable energy source or being commissioned for designing mechanics for the kingdoms.

With a these themes in mind, I’m left to question exactly how I want to set the story:

1. Either have it set during the common trope of the Middle ages, with each of the major races of the world having a vast series of kingdoms, while other races are pretty much subgroups living in the outskirts in subservience or in independent territories. Obviously, themes such as hierarchy and honor will be prevalent, but there’s no prophecy or destiny for any of these characters, just a means of survival.

Or

2. Have it set during the early 20th century, with a hint of fascism on the part of the humans of the story. It’d be way too blunt if I made it shaped like Nazi Germany, so I was almost thinking of something more in the shape of America in the early 1900’s (maybe even the 20’s), when the nation was beginning to become a world power but intolerance was still heavily prevalent within and outside of society.

If you guys do have input on this, I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks again ;)

Hey, y'all. Just a quick head's up for those of you who would keep tabs on this kind of stuff. This week's looking pretty heavy for me schoolwise, and I'm gonna be on vacation for the next couple of days starting this Saturday. So if you don't see any new deviations from me for a while, that'll likely be why. If I do end up posting anything, it'll probably just be because I had a little time to spare. Just please don't be too surprised if you see a lack of activity on my end for now.
